Missionaries from Bogenhofen to the whole World
Just six years after the Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen was established the first young people went out to the mission field. Wthin the first 50 years of its existence 40 young people went overseas. The main mission field was Africa. Bogenhofen missionaries served as pastors, nurses, technicians, teachers, and administrators. They were regarded as adaptable and persistent. Some of them stayed abroad as long as 28 years which is quite remarkable.
Johann and Gerti Fichtberger served many years at Niamvoudou (Cameroon). Albert and Kaethe Bodenmann served for 28 years in both Cameroon and Chad. Franz, Armin and Walter Krakolinig along with their families served many years in the north and south of Cameroon, in Chad and the Central African Republic. Hans and Sylvie Obenaus have been serving for over 20 years in Africa (currently in Mauretania).
Other Missionaries and Student Missionaries were: Peter and Eliane Brussee (Israel), Helmut and Deborah Eisele (Papua New Guinea and Fiji), Mario Giger (Cameroon, Central Africa), Dr. Jack Hoehn (Zambia), Adolf Kinder (Cameroon, Senegal), Dr. Andreas Mirna (Zambia), Rinos Muchenagumbo and Wisam Ali (Zimbabwe), Martin Neumann (Albania), Ernst Pala (Cameroon, Senegal), Christian Prandl (Haiti), Herbert Prandl (Burkina Faso), Emanuel Zolliker (Cameroon, Central Africa), and there are certainly more to be named who are not in this list.
Since 1999 the enthusiasm of students of Bogenhofen for overseas missionary work has been rekindled through the student missionary program. Every year a good number of students from Bogenhofen leave to serve as student missionaries in faraway places, wishing to carry the light to the end of the world. Upon their return to Bogenhofen they receive a 30% discount on their tuition and living expenses.
